Sarva Kalvitam Maya

A meditation on the universal creative force — the idea that everything belongs to and flows from a singular primordial intelligence that permeates all matter, all time, all space.

Sarva Kalvitam Maya

Sarva Kalvitam Maya, Mixed media on canvas, 2020

Breathe, I say to myself, approaching the studio, for breath can no longer be taken for granted, not any more, not when the oxygen has fled from our lungs, not when our insides have been colonized by an alien being. Inhale. Exhale. Be aware. Breathe.

Sarva Kalvitam Maya — all is illusion, all is transformation. This work was born in a period of stillness forced upon the world, a time when the body became hyper-aware of its own fragility. The studio became a sanctuary for reckoning with impermanence, with the breath as both subject and medium.

Each piece in this series is a meditation on the thin membrane between presence and absence, between the seen and the unseen forces that animate life.
